Translate the service menu into equipment needs

A new salon should not begin by selecting isolated products. List the services that will be offered at opening, how many appointments each service is expected to support and which rooms or stations deliver them. Beauty treatments may require beauty beds, hair washing may require shampoo units, and nail services may require pedicure spa chairs. The service plan creates the equipment plan.

Separate opening-day essentials from future additions. A salon can reserve space or utility capacity for a later service without purchasing every item immediately. Prioritize the equipment that directly supports the first revenue-generating services, and avoid using a large catalog as a reason to expand the initial order before the room and operating plan are ready.

Measure the rooms before building a shortlist

Record usable room dimensions, doorways, corridors, lifts, fixed utilities, storage and technician working space. Include trolleys, stools, lamps and other equipment that shares the area. A product can fit within the wall dimensions and still create a poor walkway or prevent the operator from reaching the client comfortably.

Use verified dimensions for the exact SKU before fixing the layout. Many YIO product measurements remain inquiry items, so images and similar models must not be used as substitutes. Mark each required measurement confirmed or pending and keep the room plan flexible until the chosen model can be checked by the salon and relevant local installer.

Choose product families before finishes

Compare the functional format first: treatment bed, rear-basin shampoo chair, head spa bed or pedicure station. Then compare visible structure, adjustment requirements and room fit within the correct family. A coordinated color palette cannot compensate for equipment that does not support the intended service or installation.

Create a shortlist of two or three models for each essential station. Record why every model remains under consideration and which evidence is missing. If two products are visually similar but cannot yet be distinguished by verified facts, request clarification rather than inventing a technical difference. A smaller controlled shortlist is easier to quote and approve.

Set a complete opening budget

The equipment budget should include the selected configuration, packing, freight, destination handling, installation and a reasonable contingency. A unit price by itself does not show the cost of opening the room. Keep construction work, local services and salon accessories visible in the same budget even when they are supplied by different parties.

Ask quotations to identify SKU, quantity, color, included items, customization, production time, packing, trade term and delivery scope. When packed size or weight is pending, label freight preliminary. Compare offers only after commercial scope is aligned, and do not reduce the reserve needed for installation simply because an initial product price appears low.

Connect ordering decisions to the opening calendar

Work backward from the opening date and include product confirmation, customization approval, production, packing, shipping, customs or local handling, delivery, installation and testing. Build time for questions and corrections. A rushed order with incomplete evidence can create a longer delay than an earlier, controlled approval process.

Confirm the current production estimate and logistics scope for the selected products and destination. Do not treat a general lead-time statement as a guaranteed arrival date. Record who owns each milestone and which decisions are still blocking it. The salon should avoid announcing an equipment-dependent service before the required products and local installation are reasonably scheduled.

Approve colors and options against exact models

Prepare color references and identify where visual coordination matters most. Ask which upholstery, finish, branding or matching-item options apply to each chosen SKU and quantity. Do not assume that an option displayed elsewhere in the product family can be transferred to every model.

Keep dated approval images and a written list of included items. If a stool, lamp, cushion or cabinet appears in a scene, confirm whether it is part of the quotation. Record any change to price, production or packing. These controls help the delivered equipment match the salon concept without turning design preferences into unsupported product facts.

Close the purchase with one opening checklist

Before approval, reconcile the room plan, SKU list, quotation, invoice, product evidence, customization, packing and receiving instructions. Every document should identify the same models and quantities. Assign a responsible person to each unresolved field and do not allow an informal message to override the controlled checklist.

Send YIO the service list, room measurements, preferred models, quantities, destination and target opening date. YIO can help organize a model-specific comparison and quotation, while the salon retains approval of room fit, local requirements and the final purchase scope. The goal is a workable opening plan, not the largest possible furniture order.

FAQ

Which salon furniture should a new salon buy first?

Prioritize the equipment required for opening-day services, then add nonessential or future-service items after the room, budget and operating plan are confirmed.

How many models should be shortlisted for each station?

Usually two or three evidence-backed options are easier to compare than a large list. Each model should have a clear commercial reason for remaining on the shortlist.

Can the salon layout be finalized from product images?

No. Use verified dimensions and model-specific installation information before fixing rooms, utilities or station counts.

What information should be sent for a salon furniture quotation?

Send the service plan, room limits, preferred SKUs, quantities, destination, opening date, colors and unresolved technical or delivery questions.
